Committee 2015-16

The new committee – elected in June 2015 – is made up of enthusiastic medical students. We are currently organising events for the upcoming year and we are looking forward to refreshing the society’s image and reaching out to many more at the University as well as in the Community!

President: Matthew Naylor MBBS5 I'm a final year GKT medic, and I've been interested in reproductive health for a few years now - starting with the fertility topics in pre-clinical years, an iBSc in Women's Health, the fantastic RSH rotation last year, and of course the lovely Obs&Gynae Society! We have a great committee this year and I hope we can continue providing events and resources to encourage you to explore and pursue O&G. :)

Vice President & Webmonkey:     Will Yau MBBS5 I loved my previous career in prodcut design, but I was also interested in surgery & medicine.  Since MBBS1, I attended ObG Society events, which were consistently excellent. O&G interests me because it's 2 specialties in 1 and can combine both surgery and medicine. Also, the RSH rotation coincided with the birth of our baby at St Thomas' Hospital where I was based!  Looking forward to keeping ObG Soc awesome.

MBBS 3 Rep:   Catrin Fernyhough I'm a third year medic, and after loving my module on fertility in Bsc year I did the Obs and Gynae summer school at St Thomas', which made me realise just how great a specialty Obs and Gynae is- medicine and surgery combined, plus of course the change to be involved in the best part of someone's life! I'm looking forward to getting involved this year and hope to see you all at our events!

Secretary:   Nicola Smallcombe MBBS5 In my final year of Medicine at GKT, I didn't discover my love of all things O&G until my RSH rotation in fourth year. Since then I have fallen in love with the specialty and am hoping to pursue a career in it! Having previously been involved in MMT & MSA I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into the role of secretary within the O&G committee :)

MBBS4 Lewisham Rep : Natalie Smith MBBS4 I’ve always been fascinated by surgery but realised rather late on that I wanted to pursue it as a career, via a degree and working in media! I have been having a great time on my RSH rotation and really enjoy obstetrics and gynaecology. I feel it’s the most varied specialty, which is great if like me you like something new everyday - as well as the challenge of caring for two (or more) patients for the price of one!
